Let me get straight to the point in this article. In order to get to the top of the police department eligibility list for future hire, you most post a top score on the police department oral interview. You see, police departments put a lot of emphasis on the interview. In fact, if you do poorly on the oral exam, you might as well re-apply at a different date because your chance of getting hired it ZERO.
To help you prepare for the police officer interview, here's just a few questions and answers that you'll more than likely be asked by the raters on the panel.
Police Interview Question#1: You are running radar when you spot a vehicle traveling 15 miles over the speed limit. You activate your light bar and initiate a traffic stop. When you approached the driver, you realize it's your mother. What is your next course of action?
Police Interview Question#2: You are in your training phase when you hear your training officer call someone a racial slur? What is your next course of action since this officer has clearly violated the standard procedure in dealing with the public?
Police Oral Interview Answer: In response to question #1, I would definitely tell the panel that I would not issue my own mother a citation, but I would tell her to stop speeding and that she is putting me in a bad position. Don't lie and tell the panel that you would give your mother a speeding ticket because that is a flat out lie, and you won't do that in real life.
Police Oral Interview Answer: In response to question #2: I would inform the panel that I would discuss it with my training officer as I could have misunderstood him. But if it was one of those things that I am 100% certain that I heard right. I would summon my immediate supervisor and tell him what transpired.
Both Questions are tough but the bottom-line is to be completely honest in your response. Hope this article helped you in some way.
